Spam/ Caller ID Spoofing
Callers can easily spoof "fake" the caller ID information. This makes blocking these types of calls challenging as the number can just be changed by the spammer.
Anytime you suspect a spam call:
- Hang up
- Don’t press buttons to be taken off a call list or to talk to a live person. It might lead to more unwanted calls.
RoboCalls
If you answer the phone and hear a recorded message instead of a live person, it's a robocall. If you’re getting a lot of robocalls trying to sell you something, odds are the calls are illegal. Many are also probably scams. Learn more about robocalls at ftc.gov/robocalls.
If you get an illegal robocall:
- Hang up
- Don’t press buttons to be taken off a call list or to talk to a live person. It might lead to more unwanted calls.
- Report it to the FTC
Do Not Call Registry
Can I register my business phone number or a fax number?
