A support technician may request that you provide a computer name to allow for quick remote access to your computer to assist you with your service request.
Security Note: A support technician will never ask for your password or
for you to install a program on your computer to gain remote access.
When in doubt, call the helpdesk when you are unsure.
Option 1: (Logged into computer)
While logged in to your computer, look at the bottom right of the screen for the "Host Name
and "IP Address" information listed on your desktop. Provide this information to your support agent.
Option 2: (Logged into computer)
- Right click the Start button
- Left click on "System" option.
- The "About" Click properties. Look for "Device Name".
- Provide the computer name to your authorized support technician.
Option 3: (Not logged into computer)
- On login screen, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete, click “Other User”.
- Click on "How do I sign in to another domain?"
- The computer name will be on the third line of text right after the word "Type" and before the "\"
- Provide the computer name to your authorized support technician.
